About the role
Apparo is a software and AI studio based in Belgrade. Since 2022 we have been building web platforms, mobile apps, data pipelines and automations for clients in Serbia and abroad - in healthcare, pharma, manufacturing and SaaS. More than 60 projects are behind us.
Alongside our client work we are building our own product: GetData (getdataspot.com), a marketplace that connects hospitals and labs with researchers and AI teams who need medical datasets.
We are looking for a tester who will be the person asking "did anyone actually try this?" before something goes out. You will work directly with the developers and the founders, on several projects in parallel, and you will have a real say in what is ready to ship and what is not.
The role is mostly manual testing to begin with - exploring, breaking things, writing clear reports. Where it makes sense, you will start automating the repetitive parts. Nobody will hand you a finished test process; you will help build it.
It is worth saying how our days actually look. We tend to agree on what the goal is rather than on the exact way to get there, so there is plenty of room to do things your own way. Questions are always welcome, and mistakes made while learning are part of the deal. If that way of working suits you, we think you would feel at home here.
How to apply
Please send us your CV. We do not need a cover letter. Instead, if you do not mind: take a look at apparo.rs and getdataspot.com and write us a couple of sentences about one thing you would change, on the site, in the communication, anywhere. It does not have to be right. We are interested in how you think.
What you'll do
Testing
- Manual and exploratory testing of web and mobile applications, on client projects and on GetData
- Writing and maintaining test cases and checklists, so testing is repeatable and not left to memory
- Regression testing before releases and a clear go / no-go signal to the team
Reporting and collaboration
- Reporting bugs so clearly that a developer can reproduce them without asking a single question
- Taking part in planning, so risks are raised before the code is written, not after
- Checking that what was built matches what was agreed with the client
Automation and process
- Automating repetitive checks where it pays off (UI, API, smoke tests)
- Helping set up a QA process from scratch, together with the team
- Suggesting where quality could be better - in the product, in the process, in how we communicate
What we're looking for
- Some experience testing software - a job, an internship, a student project or your own. We care more about how you test than how long you have been doing it.
- Understanding of the basics: test cases, bug life cycle, regression, the difference between functional and non-functional testing
- Curiosity and a bit of stubbornness. You want to know why something broke, not just that it did.
- Ability to write a bug report that is short, precise and reproducible
- Basic understanding of how web applications work (client, server, API, database) - enough to know where to look
- Comfortable with Git, a terminal and reading logs, or willing to learn quickly
- Good English, written and spoken - documentation and some communication with clients are in English
- Good written and spoken communication in Serbian
Nice to have
- Experience with test automation (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar)
- API testing (Postman, REST, basics of HTTP)
- Basics of SQL
- Basics of a scripting language (Python or JavaScript)
- Testing mobile apps (iOS / Android)
- Experience with Jira or a similar tool
- ISTQB Foundation or similar
What we offer
- Full-time position in office in Belgrade
- Working directly with the developers and founders, with no layers in between and no unnecessary approvals
- Variety: several projects and domains, plus our own product, so no two weeks look the same
- Room to shape the QA process rather than inherit one
- Budget for learning - courses, certifications
- Modern stack and tooling; automation is encouraged, not a side project
- Clear path from manual to automation and from junior to medior
