Software Engineer (Junior / Medior)

Apparo is a software and AI studio based in Belgrade. Since 2022 we have been building web platforms, mobile apps, data pipelines and automations for clients in Serbia and abroad - in healthcare, pharma, manufacturing and SaaS. More than 60 projects are behind us.

Alongside our client work we are building our own product: GetData (getdataspot.com), a marketplace that connects hospitals and labs with researchers and AI teams who need medical datasets.

We are looking for an engineer who wants to work on the whole thing - backend, frontend, the database in between and the deployment at the end. Our stack is mostly Python (Django) and TypeScript (React, Next.js), with PostgreSQL and Docker underneath. You do not need to know all of it on day one, but you should want to.

You will ship real features from the first weeks, on projects with real users and real deadlines. There is a senior colleague on every project, and code review is where most of the learning happens. We do not do busywork and we do not park juniors on tickets nobody cares about.

It is worth saying how our days actually look. We tend to agree on what the goal is rather than on the exact way to get there, so there is plenty of room to do things your own way. Questions are always welcome, and mistakes made while learning are part of the deal. If that way of working suits you, we think you would feel at home here.

Building

• Developing features end to end: API, database, frontend, and the tests that go with them
• Working on client projects and on GetData, usually one or two at a time
• Writing code that the next person can read without asking you

Working with the team

• Taking part in planning and estimates, and saying so when something looks off
• Giving and receiving code review as the normal way we work, not a formality
• Talking to clients when needed - clarifying requirements, showing what was built

Around the code

• Deploying with Docker and CI/CD, and fixing things when they break in production
• Documenting what matters: decisions, setup, the parts that are not obvious
• Suggesting improvements to how we build, not just what we build
